Dynamic Systems with Intuitive, Centralized Control for Improved Productivity and Security

Summary

This home attains the “next level”. Every detail was considered from conception to completion, from the architect, to the craftsmen, to the designers.

Items of note: The commissioned artwork over the fireplace moves out of the way to expose a TV! The power outlets and lighting keypads are all recessed into the walls using the Trufig system. They’re also faux painted and plastered to match the walls. The only visible part of the ceiling speakers are the 4” apertures. They look just like the recessed lighting, very discrete. The temperature controls are all hidden in common areas to help the walls look clean and uncluttered. Lastly, the mountain views of Salt Lake City and the owner’s privacy were protected by Lutron custom roller shades and drapes.

This home is automated to the max, and a thing of beauty!

Summary

This house is a techies dream-come-true. The lighting system is so fully automated that motion sensors in the ceilings detect your presence and illuminate your path everywhere you go. Need to change the light level or open and close the shades? No problem- this home has the absolutely stunning Lutron Alisse keypads- you’ll think you found the love child of a high-end designer and an engineer. The homeowner can unlock the front door with the press of a button and instantly see the status of each dead-bolt in the house. An audio system to die for, including subwoofers in every room- the way it was meant to be! At the end of a long day of skiing fire up the sauna remotely on your way down the hill then sneak off to the custom home theater for a private screening afterwards. What a life!

Project Three

Lookout House

Blending Lutron Technology with Nature's Beauty for Optimal Views and Comfort

Summary

This home has some of the most amazing views of the Snyderville Basin, and Park City with its many ski resorts. With the entire west side of the home being exposed, finding and executing the right shading solution required a multi-faceted approach. With a mix of shades in pockets and exposed rolls using Lutron Palladiom shades we were able to gain the utility of the shades and still maintain the beauty that the designers and architects meant for the space. The lighting control system from Lutron was a perfect backbone for the shades and allowed us to perfectly control the non-natural light.

The sound system is no slouch either- speakers by Paradigm and Triad, and playback devices by Sonos make the home extremely easy to use and highly reliable. The upper deck and lower patio systems each have in-ceiling subwoofers that round out the audio and make the music fun to listen to. The lower patio also has an outdoor TV by Samsung for those evenings in the mountains where you just want to sit outside and relax.

The security system has cameras, motion sensors, low temp sensors, wired low-voltage smoke detectors, and sprinkler flow sensors in case the fire sprinklers were to turn on. The low voltage smoke detectors are always a plus- have you ever changed a battery in a chirping smoke detector on top of a ladder at 3 AM only to get back in bed and have the next room start chirping? You’ll never see that problem with this system- all of the smoke detectors share the same backup battery which is located in a spot that can easily be changed while standing on your own two feet.

The architect, home builder, and design team were a dominant force on this project- and it shows!
